  11. I am having several problems with my new external 28.8 Sportster modem.
  12. As of this writing I have not been able to get the modem to function
  13. properly even once.

  15. Problems :
  16.  
  17.   1) no response to ATI1 command
  18.  
  19.   2) while executing the Telephone Line relay test the following occurs
  20.  
  21.        when I pick up the telephone receiver the AA light comes on even
  22.        though the S0 register is confirmed to be set to 0; when I enter
  23.        the ATH1 command one of two things happen - a) the line stays
  24.        active, that is to say the modem never takes over or b) the modem
  25.        goes off hook, however, when I enter an ATDT command, e.g.,
  26.        ATDT12345 the telephone line becomes active again that is to say
  27.        the dial tone comes back on at the receiver without the modem
  28.        ever attempting to dial the number.

  34.   it has the October 18, 1995 PROM date

  39.   O/S : Windows for Workgroups 3.11

  41.   Serial card with 16550 UART chip
  42.  
  43.   using ProComm Plus 2.1 for Windows; the Terminal app within WFW;
  44.   and Internet In a Box version 2.0

  47. Other Point of Possible Interest :

  49.   I have been using the 14.4 version of this modem for several months
  50.   without any problems.
